Our predecessor, “Nissay Children’s Culture Foundation” was established in November 1973 through a donation by Nippon Life Insurance Company for the purpose of “presenting performing arts of the highest quality and striving to improve those arts while contributing to the advancement of Japan’s performing arts and culture” centering on the Nissay Theatre.
In November 1993, the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Foundation (and 30th anniversary of the opening of the Nissay Theatre), we changed the name to “Nissay Culture Foundation” with the aim of expanding and enhancing our activities. In November 2009, the foundation became a public interest incorporated foundation. Since the establishment of the Foundation, we have engaged in activities under our mission to “Present (Producing and staging performing arts of the highest quality),” “Develop (Developing aesthetic sensitivity of young people)” and “Support (Developing personnel who support the performing arts).”
